In season mode you buy horses, build up your stables and earn as much money as possible in 10 years. Controlling the horse in a race is simple (X to increase speed, O to slow down and square to use the whip) and different camera views (including checking out your rivals by looking around using L1 and R1) make jockeying in the races really adictive - and when you finally crack the strategy of pacing the horse and whipping at the end the wins will flood in! You get awarded gold, silver or bronze in the overall standings after the race meeting (unlocking other courses in the process). You get points awarded for winning or placing in each race (bonus points if you win on an outsider and lose points for not winning on a favourite). In jockey mode you select a course in which to control a chosen horse from the field in each race. First the 2 most used modes in the game will be jockey mode and season mode. I'd like to put something useful here since no PS2 sites seem to think this game is worth reviewing. Licensed race events included: Here's a list of just some of the races included If you want to see whether Makybe Diva would beat Pharlap in the Melbourne Cup simply create horses that have the performance characteristics of those real horses and pitch them against each other in a 3200m race at Flemington. This allows you to recreate classic races, and also to create fantasy races. In season mode you have to buy any horses you create, so if you create one with perfect stats it's going to be pretty expensive! Using the season mode you can create horses that represent the appearance and performance of real world horses, and then pitch them against each other. You can alter the horse's name, age, colour, markings and performance statistics.
